The Centre International d'Études Françaises (CIEF) in Dijon teaches French as a foreign language on the campus of the University of Burgundy. All its teachers are specialists in French as a foreign language, and the centre is also an examination centre for the DELF and DALF diplomas.

Courses run throughout the year; the current course calendar runs from 1 June 2026 to 28 May 2027. Placement tests are held at the start of each session, progress is assessed through regular tests and final examinations, and students receive a certificate showing their level, hours of tuition and attendance, with ECTS credits. Some courses lead to specific university or national diplomas. A media centre offers individual study facilities.

Courses are open to adults aged 18 and over who have completed secondary education (baccalauréat or equivalent). For accommodation, students can stay at the International Students Residence near the campus, which has 300 furnished single rooms and 100 apartments and is 15 minutes from the city centre by tram, or with a host family. Excursions are also organised.

Housing

  • International Students Residence (Résidence Internationale d'Étudiants), near the university campus: 300 furnished single rooms with shower and WC, fridge and internet, with shared kitchens on every floor and a laundry
  • 100 apartments (studio to two-bedroom) with equipped kitchen
  • Board and lodging with a host family

The residence is served by tram, 15 minutes from the city centre, and has a reception open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
