The Hospital Centro de Cuidados Laguna in Madrid is a health and social care centre for frail older people and patients with advanced, incurable illness. It is run by a non-profit organisation, the Fundación Vianorte-Laguna, set up in 2005, and according to the foundation it is one of the largest palliative care hospitals in Europe by number of beds. It is at Calle Concejal Francisco José Jiménez Martín 128, near the Laguna stop of Metro line 6 and Cercanías line C5.

Its Training and Research Centre trains professionals, undergraduate and postgraduate students, carers and volunteers, and researches new therapies in palliative care, end-of-life ethics and advanced illness. Courses are held in person and at a distance, with a virtual classroom. Recent and upcoming activities include:

  • Online course for doctors and pharmacists on symptom control and opioid pain treatment (26 October to 1 December 2026)
  • One-day sessions on dementia care and on music therapy for older adults
  • In-person course for women training to care for dependent people at home

The centre also hosts curricular placements for vocational, bachelor's and master's students and rotations for medical residents and doctors, in its hospital unit, day centre and care homes, in collaboration with Spanish public and private universities. Its training rooms can also be rented.
