Claremont McKenna College (CMC) is a residential liberal arts college in Claremont, California, about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. Since 1946 its mission has been to prepare students for responsible leadership in business, government and the professions. CMC is a member of The Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate colleges and two graduate institutions modelled after Oxford University, so CMC students can choose from more than 2,200 courses across the member colleges.

The college is known for economics and government, and also teaches the humanities, sciences and social sciences, including through its new Kravis Department of Integrated Sciences. Classes are small, with a student-faculty ratio of 8:1, and students can join research at 11 institutes and centers. According to the college, more than 90% of students complete internships and nearly half study off campus during their four years. The Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum hosts guest speakers four nights a week.

CMC accepts first-year, transfer and international applicants through a holistic review, and its financial aid is need-blind and meets full demonstrated need. Students live on campus in 14 residence halls and one apartment complex, and sports are played in NCAA Division III through the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletic department.

CMC's admission is need-blind and the college commits to meeting the full demonstrated financial need of admitted students. It offers need-based and merit aid; according to the college, 48% of students receive aid.

CMC has 14 residence halls and one student apartment complex on campus. There are no separate first-year dorms: each hall mixes students from all class years, and each has a Resident Assistant (RA). Rooms are singles, doubles or triples depending on the hall; some halls are gender-inclusive and one is substance-free. Halls have study lounges, laundry facilities and recreational equipment.
