Colgate treats non-US citizens as international applicants. They follow the first-year applicant checklists, with no application fee. Schools send transcripts directly through the Common App, Scoir or by mail: mid-year or predicted grades for current seniors and a final transcript for graduates. Results of national or international exams must come from the testing agency or a school official. Applicants whose native language is not English are encouraged to submit an interview through InitialView or Vericant. There are Early Decision I, Early Decision II and Regular Decision rounds.
Non-native English speakers who do not attend a secondary school taught mainly in English must submit TOEFL iBT (minimum 4.5 on the new scale), IELTS 7 or Duolingo English Test 130. Scores must be sent by the testing agency, and the requirement is not waived on the basis of SAT results.

Colgate states that it meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for every admitted student, including international students who need a full financial package. International applicants apply for aid with the CSS Profile by the application deadline and can request a CSS Profile fee waiver.
University housing is guaranteed for all four years, and 91% of students live on campus. Options include traditional residence halls, suites, houses, apartments and townhouses; first- and second-year students live on the hill and belong to one of four Residential Commons, while juniors and seniors live along Broad Street and can choose theme houses.
