Higher education centre in Alicante, Spain

The Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Alicante (CSDA) is a publicly funded higher dance conservatory in Alicante. According to the centre, it is one of the higher dance schools in Spain, together with those in Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Málaga and Valencia. Like the other higher arts education centres of the Valencian Community, it belongs to the Instituto Superior de Enseñanzas Artísticas de la Comunitat Valenciana (ISEACV).

Its studies are placed at level 2 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (MECES) and lead to the official Título de Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores in Dance Pedagogy (Pedagogía de la Danza), with 240 ECTS credits. The CSDA is authorised to teach both dance specialities, Choreography and Performance and Dance Pedagogy, but currently teaches only Dance Pedagogy, in four styles:

  • Classical dance
  • Contemporary dance
  • Spanish dance
  • Social dance, added in 2022-23, with an itinerary in social, educational and well-being dance

The teaching staff numbers 32. Applicants need the Bachillerato, a higher arts, university or Técnico Superior qualification, or the university entrance exam for over-25s, and must pass a specific entrance exam held in July and September. The CSDA has held the Erasmus+ charter since 2013-14 and runs incoming and outgoing exchanges for students and teachers.
