Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA)

The Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA) is the public higher music conservatory of Aragon, located at Vía Hispanidad 22 in Zaragoza. It depends on the Department of Education, Culture and Sport of the Government of Aragon. According to the conservatory, it has more than 300 students and over one hundred teachers.

The CSMA teaches the official Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Música, a higher arts qualification equivalent to a university bachelor's degree, in the instrumental specialities as well as Composition and Conducting. It does not yet offer master's programmes. Admission is through a specific entrance exam for each speciality, held in June, with a second call in September if places remain. Attendance at classes and at the conservatory's activities is compulsory.

The CSMA has 15 years of experience in Erasmus+ and has signed agreements with more than 60 higher education institutions in 20 European countries; incoming exchange students apply through the EASY system. Its website lists halls of residence and student residences in Zaragoza, such as the Colegio Mayor Azaila and the Residencia Baltasar Gracián.

Admission

  • Spanish Baccalaureate (Bachillerato), a higher arts qualification, a university degree, a Técnico Superior qualification or the university entrance exam for over-25s
  • Pass the specific entrance exam (prueba de acceso) for the speciality, held in June (September if places remain); a pass is valid only for that year
  • Applicants aged 16 to 18 without these qualifications may apply after passing a maturity test (prueba de madurez), subject to authorisation by the regional education authority

Language requirements

Erasmus+: the CSMA has 15 years of experience in the programme and agreements with more than 60 higher music institutions in 20 European countries. Incoming exchange students apply through the EASY online system by 30 April for either semester, with a CV, motivation letter, recommendation letter, learning agreement and an audio or video recording.
