The Conservatorio Superior de Música de Málaga is a higher music conservatory in Málaga, founded in 1880 with the support of the city's Sociedad Filarmónica; its first director was Eduardo Ocón. In the 1960s it was one of the six higher conservatories run by the Spanish Ministry of Education. Since 1971 it has been housed in a rationalist building by the architect Enrique Atencia Molina on the El Ejido university campus (Plaza del Maestro Artola 2). The conservatory was the starting point of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Málaga, founded in 1945.

It offers higher arts education in music (Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores) in the specialities of Composition, Conducting and Performance, with these itineraries:

  • Orchestral conducting
  • Singing
  • Guitar
  • Jazz instruments
  • Orchestral instruments
  • Piano and organ

Students perform in the conservatory's large ensembles (symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, band, choir and big band), and the centre runs internal competitions for soloists, chamber music, composition and orchestral conducting. Admission follows Andalusia's single district for higher arts education, with entrance tests. The conservatory takes part in Erasmus+ (code E MALAGA02) and receives incoming exchange students; group classes are taught in Spanish, and level B2 in Spanish and English is recommended.
