Hunter College is a public college of the City University of New York (CUNY), located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City (United States). Founded in 1870, it has more than 22,000 students, about 17,000 of them undergraduates, and offers more than 170 academic programmes in five schools:

The international admissions process is for students who intend to apply for an F-1 student visa. High school seniors and high school equivalency graduates who have not enrolled at another college submit a freshman application; students who have attended another college or want a second bachelor's degree submit a transfer application. Students must be admitted before starting their visa application at the US embassy. Admissions information sessions, in person and online, explain the requirements and scholarship applications.
The International English Language Institute (IELI) at Hunter offers English courses from Beginner to Bridge-to-College level, an Academic Skills Program and test preparation, with weekday, Saturday and online classes and private lessons. Applicants must be older than 17 and high school graduates. The IELI can issue the I-20 form for an F-1 student visa.
Hunter's student housing is owned and operated by Found Study. There are two residences: the 51st Street Residence, next to the 51 St subway station, with standard and deluxe double rooms, and the 79th Street Residence at 334 East 79th Street, a few blocks from the main 68th Street campus. Places are limited, the process is competitive, housing is not guaranteed and students must reapply each year.
