La Casa de las Lenguas is the language centre of the Universidad de Oviedo, on the Campus de El Milán in Oviedo, Asturias. It was set up to strengthen the language provision for the international students who come to study at the university each year and to improve language training for the university community and Asturian society. It works along two lines: teaching Spanish as a foreign language, and teaching other languages together with translation and language advisory services. Its courses are open to any adult; students do not need to belong to the university.
The Spanish courses for foreigners (Cursos de Español para Extranjeros) include:
- Beginners' Spanish (Español inicial), based on a communicative approach
- Spanish language and culture courses
- Intensive Spanish for Erasmus and other exchange students
- Term-long Spanish course (Curso Trimestral de Español)
- Summer courses, with cultural and leisure activities included in the course price
The centre also runs general courses in other languages: for the 2026-27 academic year it offers 50 courses of 30 hours each in Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés.
