The Diplomatische Akademie Wien - Vienna School of International Studies (DA) is a postgraduate school of international affairs in Vienna, Austria. Its roots go back to the Oriental Academy, founded in 1754 by Empress Maria Theresa to train diplomats for the Habsburg monarchy; it became the Diplomatic Academy in 1964 and in 1996 was granted the status of an independent public training institution.
The DA offers postgraduate courses for university graduates of all disciplines. Its five academic programmes are:
- Diploma Programme: one year of international relations, economics, history and law, with a special emphasis on language training
- Master of Advanced International Studies (two years)
- MSc in Digital International Affairs (two years, with the University of Innsbruck)
- MSc in Environmental Technology & International Affairs (two years, with TU Wien)
- PhD Programme Interdisciplinary International Studies (four years, with the University of Vienna)
It also runs executive training, tailor-made programmes and language courses for the public and private sectors, as well as public lectures, conferences and debates on politics, international relations, economics and culture.
