Dragón, the American School of Torrelodones, is a private American school in Torrelodones (Comunidad de Madrid) for students aged 3 to 18, from preschool to Grade 12. Students can graduate with a dual qualification: a US High School Diploma and recognition (homologación) of their studies as the Spanish bachillerato by the Spanish Ministry of Education. The school describes its environment as fully bilingual; 80% of teachers are native English speakers or bilingual, and families come from more than 40 nationalities, with about 30% from abroad.
Outdoor learning is part of the timetable, and the campus is set next to a natural park in the Comunidad de Madrid. Mobile phones are not allowed at any stage, and electronic devices are avoided until Grade 7. From early high school, students receive mentoring and preparation for the Spanish PCE university entrance tests and for international exams such as the SAT, ACT and Cambridge. Timetables can be adapted for students with documented high-level commitments in sport, music or the arts. Meals use local, seasonal produce, with gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan options.
Pre-registration is open all year. Middle and high school applicants complete family and student questionnaires and have an interview with the school leadership.
