Montessori Villa Rosita

Primary and secondary school in Torrelodones, Spain

Montessori Villa Rosita, also called the International Montessori Adolescent Community, is a Montessori secondary school in the Colonia area of Torrelodones (Madrid), at Calle Manuel Pardo 22 C. It is run by its head, Katrin Vanhecke, who holds the NAMTA/AMI Orientation to Adolescent Studies certificate and has worked with students aged 10 to 15 since 2016.

The adolescent programme aims to set young people on the path to economic independence through purposeful academic and physical work. It is built around three ideas:

  • Social organisation and community life
  • Connection with nature
  • Micro-enterprise

The curriculum combines self-expression (oral, written and artistic), the disciplines that train the mind (ethics, mathematics and language) and a general education that prepares students for adult life, with an emphasis on respect for living things, the environment and sustainable development.

Enrolment is open for 1º de ESO (Year 7) for the 2027-28 school year. Families visit the school or attend an open day, submit an application form, and are then invited to an interview with the head; submitting the form does not guarantee a place. The school can be reached by bus from Moncloa (lines 631 and 635) and by Cercanías train to Torrelodones.
