ELCOS, Bangor University

The English Language Centre for Overseas Students (ELCOS) is part of Bangor University, a university founded in 1884 in Bangor, on the North Wales coast between Snowdonia National Park and the Menai Straits. The university has around 10,000 students in ten academic schools, and London is about three hours away by train. ELCOS teaches English and study skills to international students, introduces them to British culture and to the academic skills needed to study in the UK, and supports international students already on degree courses at Bangor.

• Pre-sessional courses for students with a conditional offer from Bangor University and an English level of IELTS 4.5 or above
• English Language Improvement, 15 or 21 hours per week, for students who want to improve their English in a university setting

ELCOS is a member of BALEAP (British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes) and belongs to IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language). Within the university it works with the International Education Centre, the Students' Union and the academic schools.
