Escuela de Jardinería y Paisajismo Castillo de Batres

Vocational school in Madrid, Spain

The Escuela de Jardinería y Paisajismo Castillo de Batres is a private garden design and landscaping school in Madrid. It was founded in 1972 by Luis Moreno de Cala and takes its name from his castle in Batres, near Madrid, although classes have been held in central Madrid since the first course in 1973-74. In 1984 representatives of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) evaluated its programmes with satisfactory results. From 2002 to 2014 the school worked with the Universidad Camilo José Cela, first on a university-own qualification in landscaping and then on the official bachelor's degree in Landscaping approved by ANECA in 2009.

Its main programme today is the Experto en Técnicas del Jardín y el Paisaje, a two-year course on garden design and maintenance for professionals and garden enthusiasts. In the 2026-27 academic year the course starts on 2 September 2026 and runs to June 2027, with 270 hours in the first year and 240 in the second. Classes are held in small groups at Calle Marqués de Ahumada 7 in Madrid.

The school also offers online courses designed by its teachers, which students follow at their own pace, and organises regular talks and conferences.
