The Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisuales de Cataluña (ESCAC) is a film school founded in 1993, growing out of the Image and Sound vocational training studies of the Centro Calassanç. It is run by the Fundació Privada ESCAC, whose board of trustees includes the Universitat de Barcelona, the Escola Pia de Catalunya, Terrassa City Council and the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España. ESCAC is a member of CILECT and a founding member of GEECT and FEISAL, the European and Latin American associations of film schools.

- Official master's degrees in film directing, documentary and non-fiction, film editing, and film studies and visual cultures
- School master's programmes in directing, cinematography, production design, screenwriting and producing
- Postgraduate programmes and short courses, such as the Sound School
Disciplines taught include directing, art direction, cinematography, documentary, screenwriting, editing, production, sound design and visual effects. Many programmes are taught in Spanish; the Master in Film Directing and the Master in Photographic Creation and New Audiovisual Formats are taught in English, and a Foundation course in English is also offered. Through agreements with ICEC, Fundación SGAE, Cinesa, DAMA and Netflix, more than 100 students with limited resources study at ESCAC each year on scholarships.

Fees
Master in Film Directing (taught in English), 2026-27 academic year (course from September 2026 to July 2027): tuition fee €13,500, or €12,990 with the early-bird rate. Fees for other programmes are not listed on the pages checked.
Scholarships and financial aid
Through agreements with partner organisations, more than 100 students with limited resources study at ESCAC each year:
- ICEC: contributes to a general fund for full scholarships for young people with fewer resources
- Fundación SGAE: scholarships for ESCAC students
- Cinesa talent grant: each year one first-year student of the Bachelor's Degree in Cinematography studies without the cost of enrolment (excluding fees and administrative costs), extendable for two further years
- DAMA: scholarship fund for the screenwriting master's
- Netflix-ESCAC: two grants for the Master's Degree in Screenwriting for under-represented groups
