The Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño de Burgos (EASD Burgos) is a school of art and design in Burgos, Castile and León. At higher level it offers official degrees in Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño in two specialities, Fashion Design and Product Design. The Fashion Design degree lasts four years (240 ECTS credits), is taught face to face in Spanish and includes 12 ECTS of work placements and an 18 ECTS final project. Its graduates receive the Título de Graduado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño, placed at MECES level 2 in Spain and EQF level 6 in Europe, the level of a bachelor's degree.

The school also teaches higher and intermediate vocational art and design courses (Animation, Photography, Illustration and Leather Accessory Craftsmanship) and the arts track of the Bachillerato.

Admission to the degrees requires a general admission test; holders of the Técnico Superior de Artes Plásticas y Diseño can enter directly. The school runs Erasmus+ mobility projects for students and staff and receives incoming Erasmus+ students. Burgos has university residences and halls, and the San Agustín residence has an agreement with the school.

Programmes

Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño (official higher arts degree) in two specialities:

  • Fashion Design
  • Product Design

The Fashion Design degree lasts 4 years (240 ECTS), with classes in the morning; it includes 12 ECTS of external work placements and an 18 ECTS final project. The Fashion Design degree has 100 places, 25 of them reserved for direct access.

Admission

Applicants need the Bachillerato or equivalent, or a pass in the university entrance exam for over-25s; applicants over 19 without these qualifications must pass a maturity test. All must also pass a general admission test in three parts:

  • Commentary on a text about contemporary design and plastic arts
  • Drawing of a three-dimensional model
  • Free colour composition based on a model

Holders of the Técnico Superior de Artes Plásticas y Diseño can be admitted directly; these places are awarded by average grade.

Duration

The Fashion Design degree lasts four academic years (240 ECTS, 60 ECTS per year). The academic year runs from September to June.

Scholarships and financial aid

Besides the grants of the Spanish Ministry of Education, the regional government (Junta de Castilla y León) offers financial assistance each year to students on these degrees:

  • Help with enrolment fees
  • Help with residence and transport costs
  • Top-up of Erasmus grants

Housing

The school does not run its own housing, but its website lists the student residences and halls in Burgos, a university city:

  • Gil de Siloé: public residence for men and women, 88 places
  • San Agustín: private residence for men and women with an agreement with the school, 180 places
  • Several other private residences and halls

Some University of Burgos cafeterias also serve meals.
