The Universidad Isabel I (UI1) is an online university. Its campus in Burgos houses the teaching and administrative services, an R&D building and rooms for exams and practical classes, and it also has an office in Valladolid. It offers official bachelor's degrees (grados), official master's degrees and doctoral studies through five faculties:
- Legal and Economic Sciences
- Security Sciences and Criminology
- Health Sciences
- Science and Technology
- Humanities and Social Sciences
Study plans are organised in trimesters, and students have direct contact with their lecturers. Depending on the degree, exams can be taken online or in person, and for each subject students choose between continuous and final assessment. Applicants first contact the university and are assigned a personal adviser, then enrol online through their personal area, choosing the degree, uploading documents and selecting a payment method. The university also offers credit recognition for previous studies or work experience, access for people over 40 with professional experience, scholarships, and discounts and financing.

Enrolment steps at the Universidad Isabel I:
- Contact the university through the online form or by phone
- A personal adviser explains the options and creates access to the student's personal area (Espacio Personal)
- Online self-enrolment: choose the degree and subjects, upload the required documents and choose a payment method
- The adviser validates the enrolment and reminds the student which certified documents to send
Access requirements differ for students from the Spanish education system, from EU or agreement countries, and from other countries. There are also routes for credit recognition and for access by people over 40 with professional experience.
