Florida Memorial University (FMU) is a private coeducational university in Miami Gardens, Florida, and the only historically Black university in South Florida. It was founded in 1879 by the Bethlehem Baptist Association in Live Oak as the Florida Baptist Institute, moved to St. Augustine in 1918, opened its current campus near Opa-locka in Miami-Dade County in 1968 and adopted its present name in 2004.

FMU offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in three schools: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Social Sciences. Bachelor's degrees range from aviation management and aeronautical science (flight education, air traffic control) to computer science, cybersecurity, biology, communications, music production, business administration, criminal justice, social work and psychology. Graduate options include a one-year, fully online executive MBA and master's degrees in education.

FMU is home to students from 35 countries, with an international recruiter and an international student advisor. International students apply free of charge through the Common Black College Application or the Common App. US federal grants and loans are not available to them, but they can apply for institutional scholarships by 1 December. Residence Life offers on-campus housing.
