Gannon University is a Catholic university based in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania, on Lake Erie in the north-eastern United States, within a two-hour drive of Cleveland, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. It also has a location in Ruskin, Florida, near Tampa, focused on graduate study, a location in Pepper Pike near Cleveland, Ohio, and online programmes. According to the university, it is weeks away from completing its acquisition of Ursuline College, pending final approval by the U.S. Department of Education. Students of all faiths are welcome.
Gannon offers associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and certificates in three colleges: the College of Engineering and Business, the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences, and the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. Areas include:

- Engineering and computing
- Nursing, medical and health sciences, and rehabilitative sciences
- Education, psychology and counselling
- Communication and the arts
- Public service and global affairs
International applicants are supported by the Office of Global Admissions and Outreach. The English requirement is, for example, TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.0; students without a test can be tested on arrival and, if needed, take Gannon's English as a Second Language programme. On-campus housing and meal plans are available in Erie.

Gannon offers associate and bachelor's degrees, minors and certificates. Examples of programmes highlighted on its site:

International applicants submit an online application and upload:
- Undergraduate: academic records from each secondary school with official literal English translations, a statement of purpose and one letter of recommendation
- Graduate: university records with English translations, three letters of recommendation and, if the programme requires it, GRE, GMAT or MAT scores
- Affidavit of Support and bank statements in U.S. dollars, needed for the I-20
- Evidence of English proficiency
Official or attested transcripts must be provided before arrival.
Scores below these levels mean taking English as a Second Language courses first:

- iTEP 3.8 or EIKEN Grade Pre-1
Other accepted evidence includes SAT critical reading 500, ACT English 21 or IB English 5. Students from English-speaking countries usually do not need ESL, and applicants without a test can be tested on arrival. Health sciences and some graduate programmes set different standards.
