Hartnell College is a community college in Salinas, California, serving the Salinas Valley. It was founded in 1920 as Salinas Junior College and took the name Hartnell College in 1948. The college states that it has about 17,000 students, most of them from the region but also from other states and countries. Classes are held on five sites: the Main Campus at 411 Central Avenue in west Salinas, the Alisal Campus in east Salinas, and education centers in King City, Soledad and Castroville.
Hartnell teaches the first two years of college study. It awards associate of arts and associate of science degrees and certificates, and students can transfer to a four-year university or go straight into a career. Programmes are grouped into five Meta-Majors:

- STEM
- Social Sciences
The college also offers a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care, registered and vocational nursing, English for Multilingual Speakers courses at several levels, and a three-year bachelor's programme in computer science in partnership with California State University, Monterey Bay. Day, evening and weekend classes run in person and online. Support services include counselling, financial aid and international student services. The fall 2026 term begins on 24 August 2026.

Fees
Enrollment fees for the 2026-27 academic year, in US dollars:
- Resident students: $46 per unit
- Non-resident and international students: $413 per unit ($367 out-of-state fee plus the $46 enrollment fee)
