IDarte (Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño de Euskadi) is the public higher school of design of the Basque Country, located at Betoñuko Atea Kalea 23 in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Its higher programme is the official Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño, a qualification at MECES level 2 (bachelor's level) that gives access to postgraduate study. Two specialities are offered, with 40 places per speciality and year:

  • Interior Design, taught in Spanish (model A) or Basque (model D)
  • Graphic Design

The school also teaches higher vocational cycles in Animation, Photography and Illustration; Animation and Photography are taught only in Basque. Teaching is in person only, from September to June, and work placements are compulsory.

Admission to the design degrees requires passing a specific entrance test; the university entrance exam is not essential. Through Erasmus+ (code E VITORIA 15), IDarte students can study or train abroad, and international students can come to IDarte on academic exchange.

Programmes

Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño (official, MECES level 2), four years, 40 places per speciality and year, compulsory work placements:

  • Interior Design (Spanish or Basque): spaces, construction, lighting, installations, stage and event design
  • Graphic Design: typography, layout, digital media, photography, web design and digital marketing

Admission

Applicants who do not meet the direct-access requirements must pass a specific entrance test before enrolling; the university entrance exam (selectividad) is not essential, and the cut-off mark is set from the test results. After the test there are separate admission and enrolment periods. Partial enrolment is not allowed except in the fourth year.

Language requirements

Interior Design can be studied in Spanish (model A) or in Basque (model D). The Animation and Photography vocational cycles are taught only in Basque, and CEFR level B2 in Basque is recommended for them.
