Indiana University South Bend (IU South Bend) is a public university in South Bend, Indiana (United States), and the oldest and largest regional campus of Indiana University. IU began teaching in South Bend in 1916; the campus has been on 80 acres along the St. Joseph River since 1961. It has about 4,500 students and graduates earn an Indiana University degree.
IU South Bend offers nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in seven schools: arts; business and economics; education; health sciences; humanities and social sciences; natural sciences; and social work. Students can take part in internships, research and study abroad.
International applicants apply through the Office of International Student Services, uploading transcripts and diplomas (with certified English translations if needed) and paying a non-refundable US$60 application fee. Non-native English speakers must show English proficiency, with TOEFL the preferred test; applicants who meet the academic requirements but not the language requirement can receive conditional admission. Students requesting an I-20 must document funds for the first year of study. An optional statement of purpose is considered for first-year scholarships. Students can live on campus in the River Crossing apartments, which have furnished one-, two- and four-bedroom units.

International undergraduate applicants submit:
- Online application and non-refundable US$60 fee
- Copies of transcripts and diplomas via IStart (official transcripts within the first four weeks of enrolment), with verified English translations
- Proof of English proficiency (or a request for conditional admission)
- Passport copy (and I-94 and visa if already in the US)
- Financial documentation covering the first year, if an I-20 is requested
- Optional statement of purpose, considered for first-year scholarships
Graduate applicants also submit a statement of purpose, up to three letters of recommendation and graduate test scores.
Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency before full admission; TOEFL is the preferred test, but other ways are accepted. Applicants who meet the academic requirements but not yet the language requirement can request conditional admission.
On-campus housing is in the River Crossing apartments, with furnished one-, two- and four-bedroom units; cable and Wi-Fi are included. Applications are made online (for 2026-27 now open; a spring-only 2027 application is offered separately).
