The International Hellenic University (IHU) is a public university based in Thessaloniki, Greece. It was first established by law in 2005 as the first public university in Greece to teach exclusively in English, and was re-established by law in 2019. Today it has eight schools and 25 departments in Thessaloniki, Serres, Katerini and Kilkis.

Its English-taught programmes are run by the University Center of International Programmes of Studies (UCIPS), which groups the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics and the School of Science and Technology. The UCIPS offers specialist postgraduate programmes, most lasting one year full time or two years part time with weekday evening classes, and several available by distance learning, as well as doctoral degrees. Examples include:

  • Executive MBA (distance learning)
  • MA in the Classical Archaeology and the Ancient History of Macedonia
  • MSc in Cybersecurity and MSc in Data Science
  • MSc in Energy Systems
  • Doctoral degrees in both schools

The UCIPS campus covers 16,000 m² in Thermi, outside Thessaloniki, and has virtual classrooms, an electronic library and IT labs. Its accommodation page lists no university residences, and students rent flats in Thessaloniki through local agencies. An International Students Support Office can be reached at [email protected].
