International House Portugal

International House Portugal (IH Portugal) is a group of language schools that has operated in Portugal since 1963. It belongs to the International House World Organisation (IH World), founded in London in 1953, a network of more than 160 schools worldwide. The schools of IH Portugal are independently owned and managed, and follow the standards set by IH World.

Since 2011 IH Portugal schools have been authorised Cambridge English exam centres. They prepare learners for the Cambridge English qualifications:

• Young Learners exams for primary school children: Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers
• A2 Key and B1 Preliminary, also in versions for schools
• B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency
• Linguaskill, a digital test of English level for individuals or groups

IH Portugal also runs CELTA teacher training courses, which combine teaching principles and techniques with observation of experienced teachers and teaching practice with real English learners, and held a Teacher Training Day in 2026.
