International Montessori School Sotogrande

Primary and secondary school in Guadiaro, Spain

International Montessori School (IMS) Sotogrande is a bilingual Montessori school for children from 4 months to 12 years, located in the Sotocentro building on the Carretera de Cádiz in Sotogrande (San Roque, Cádiz). Among the organisations it lists as recognising it are the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Junta de Andalucía.

Spanish and English are used every day: each class has two guides, one Spanish-speaking and one English-speaking, with at most 15 pupils per class. French is added from the Children's House. The school is organised in Montessori environments:

  • Nursery and Infant Community (4 months to 3 years)
  • Children's House (ages 3-6)
  • Elementary 1 / Taller 1 (ages 6-9) and Elementary 2 / Taller 2 (ages 9-12)
  • Rainbow class with specialist support in language, motor coordination and emotional regulation

Elementary pupils work on research projects with an individual work plan and monthly outings. The school community includes more than 40 nationalities, and IMS helps international families with relocation, answering in Spanish, English, German and French. A bilingual summer camp is held for ages 3 to 12.

Applications are made online at any time; places for the next year are allocated from March, with priority for current pupils.
