Kuban State University of Technology

Kuban State Technological University (KubSTU) is a technological university in Krasnodar, in the south of Russia. Its history began on 16 June 1918, when the North Caucasian Polytechnic Institute was established in Ekaterinodar, the former name of Krasnodar; the university describes it as the first higher education institution in the Caucasian south of Russia. After several changes of name, the institute received university status in November 1993 and took its current name.

About 10,000 students train at KubSTU every year, and the university states that it welcomes international students from more than 50 countries. It holds a licence for more than 500 programmes of different levels and offers bachelor's, master's and research degrees as well as vocational (college) programmes. Fields include:

  • Construction and civil engineering
  • Informatics, software engineering and information security
  • Energy, oil and gas engineering
  • Chemical and food technology
  • Economics, management and hotel management

Students from countries that need a visa can only enrol with an invitation from the university. The documents for the invitation must be sent to the International Department before 1 June, and the entrance tests for bachelor's degrees cover mathematics and Russian language.

The university also offers master's and research degrees, and secondary vocational (college) programmes.

Admission

International students who need a visa enter KubSTU with an invitation from the university. To request it, they send the International Department:

  • an application
  • a copy of a passport valid for at least 18 months after the planned arrival
  • a copy of their education certificate with a notarised Russian translation

These documents must arrive before 1 June; issuing the invitation takes about thirty days. On arrival, applicants sign the application form in person and submit the original education certificate, notarised translations and a health certificate. Bachelor's applicants take entrance tests in mathematics and Russian language.
