Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (KU) is a university of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education, located in Kutztown, a rural Pennsylvania Dutch community in the north-eastern United States. It was founded on 15 September 1866 and has a 289-acre campus with living-learning communities, labs and studios.
KU offers more than 130 areas of study at undergraduate and graduate level, including some fully online bachelor's degrees (sociology and communication studies). International students can apply for bachelor's, master's and exchange study; the office of International Education and Global Engagement handles admissions and immigration steps.
International first-year applicants use the Kutztown application or the Common Application. The English requirement for undergraduates is, for example, IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 70 (3.5 on the new scale); KU does not offer conditional admission, but approved ESL programmes can be used to meet the requirement. International undergraduates automatically receive a tuition discount of about US$7,500 a year and are considered for merit scholarships based on GPA. Students can live on campus, with housing and meal plans charged per term.
