Loyola University Chicago is a private Jesuit, Catholic research university in Chicago, Illinois (United States), established in 1870. It has the Carnegie R1 classification for research activity. Its main campuses are the Lake Shore Campus on Lake Michigan, the Water Tower Campus downtown and the Health Sciences Campus in Maywood, and it also has a campus in Rome.
Loyola offers more than 100 majors and 100 minors, as well as graduate, professional and online programmes. Its schools and colleges cover:

International undergraduates apply through the Common Application or Loyola's own application, with no application fee, and are considered automatically for merit scholarships. Loyola offers more than 100 majors and 100 minors. Examples by school:
- Arts and Sciences: anthropology, biology, computer science, engineering, neuroscience, political science, psychology and many interdisciplinary programmes
- Quinlan School of Business: BBA in finance, international business, marketing and other fields, plus a US/Europe double degree
- Communication: advertising and public relations, film and digital media, multimedia journalism
- Environmental Sustainability: environmental science and policy

Loyola offers a wide range of graduate, professional and online programmes, including:

- Nursing: MSN, nurse practitioner tracks, DNP and PhD
- Public health and health sciences: Master of Public Health, MS in Health Informatics, MS in Dietetics

International first-year applicants submit the Common Application or Loyola's online application; there is no application fee.
- Official transcripts from every secondary school attended, with an English translation if needed
- Proof of English proficiency
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor
- ACT or SAT scores optional (test-optional)
- Priority deadlines: 1 December for a fall start, 1 November for a spring start; later applications are accepted while space is available
- For the I-20 after admission: passport ID page and proof of funds for the full year of study
Minimum scores for undergraduate admission:
- TOEFL: 4.5 (tests after 1 January 2026) or 79 (earlier tests)
- IELTS: 6.5
- PTE: 53
- Duolingo: 110
The requirement is not waived based on country of origin or language of instruction. AP or IB coursework may qualify for a waiver, and SAT or ACT scores can also be submitted as proof.

International applicants are considered automatically for merit scholarships when they apply; initial scholarship information is included in the acceptance letter. Additional scholarships that require a separate application are posted on the student portal in early January.
Residence Life runs more than 20 residence halls, such as Baumhart Hall, Mertz Hall and the Simpson Living-Learning Center, with meal plans. For 2026-27, average room and board is estimated at US$18,572, based on a double first-year room and meal plan.
