Lycée Français d'Alicante Pierre Deschamps

Primary and secondary school in El Campello, Spain

The Lycée Français International d'Alicante Pierre Deschamps (LFIA) is a French school in El Campello, near Alicante, for pupils aged 2 to 18. It opened in 1962 in the centre of Alicante and in 2005 moved to a campus of more than 20 hectares in El Campello, named after Pierre Deschamps, founder of the Mission laïque française. The lycée belongs to the Mission laïque française and the AEFE network of French schools abroad, and its teaching is recognised by the education ministries of France and Spain.

Pupils learn in French, English and Spanish from age 2 with native-speaker teachers, and the school aims for a C1 level in all three languages; German, Latin and Valencian can also be studied. Around 70% of pupils are Spanish, the rest come from countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Algeria, Russia and the United States. Schooling runs from the first year of Infant education to the final year of Bachillerato and ends with the French Baccalauréat, which gives access to higher education in France; in Spain the Bac grade replaces the compulsory phase of the PAU university entrance exam. A careers guidance programme runs from the last year of primary school.

The campus has an indoor semi-Olympic pool, sports hall, athletics track, football pitch, library, canteens and science labs. Families can visit on open days or book a personal visit or video call.
