Mars Hill University

University, Graduate school in Mars Hill, The United States

Mars Hill University, known as Mars Hill College until August 2013, is a private four-year liberal arts university in the town of Mars Hill, in the Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina, north of Asheville. It was founded in 1856 by Baptist families of the region and describes itself as an academic community rooted in the Christian faith. The 194-acre campus sits at an elevation of 2,330 feet, and the small town of about 2,200 people takes its name from the university.

  • Traditional undergraduate majors and minors in the liberal arts, with an Honors Program
  • Adult undergraduate degree completion in business management, criminal justice, data analytics, psychology and social work
  • Master's degrees in criminal justice, teaching, education, management and business administration (MBA)

Many adult and graduate programmes are taught online, on campus or in a blended format. Traditional undergraduate applicants pay no application fee and test scores are optional; the admissions office also handles applications from transfer and international students. Students live in residence halls with free Wi-Fi, cable TV and laundry and live-in staff. The campus hosts the Lunsford Festival, a folk festival held every October.
