Montessori School Almería is a small private international school in the city of Almería, about 100 metres from the sea, for boys and girls aged 2 to 11. It combines a British education with Montessori pedagogy: it follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the National Curriculum of England, and is guided by the principles of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). The school states that it is officially recognised by the education authority of the Junta de Andalucía.
The school grew out of La Casita Montessori Almería, a Montessori project for children aged 3 to 6 that opened in September 2015; in September 2016 it opened as a British school so that pupils could continue into Primary. English is the main language of the school, and the team combines UK-qualified teachers with AMI-trained Montessori guides, working with a ratio of about 20 children to 2 educators.
