Moveo - centro de formación y creación

Moveo is a physical theatre centre in Barcelona specialising in dramatic corporeal mime, the technique created by Étienne Decroux. Since 2005 it has combined training and creation through a resident company, Cia Moveo, and a space that hosts artists in residence. The centre is at C/ Joan d'Àustria 95-97, near the Marina and Bogatell metro stations.

Its main programme is a full-time, two-year Diploma in Physical Theatre (Diplomatura), running from October to June, with corporeal mime at its core. The curriculum rests on five pillars (technique, improvisation, composition, repertoire and creation practice) and adds dance, physical preparation and voice work. Students can continue with an optional third year of specialisation. Other courses include:

• Creative Training in Physical Theatre, a term-based evening course open to all levels
• Advanced morning training alongside the Diploma students, two mornings a week
• Intensive courses and weekend workshops, open to all levels with no previous experience required
• Masterclasses with visiting artists

Moveo also runs two residency programmes for companies creating movement-based work: Residencia LAB and a professionalisation support programme for recent graduates. The residencies are co-funded by the Culture Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya and Barcelona City Council.
