Norton University is a private university in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was founded in 1996 and describes itself as one of the oldest private universities in the country. The campus is on St. Keo Chenda in the Chroy Changvar district of Phnom Penh.

Undergraduate students start with a foundation year in the Foundation Studies Department and then continue in one of the university's colleges and faculties:

  • College of Sciences
  • College of Social Sciences
  • College of Arts, Humanities and Languages
  • Faculty of Health Sciences
  • Graduate School (master's programmes)

Admission to the first year requires a high school certificate or equivalent and the university's entrance exam; graduate students need a bachelor's degree. Foreign applicants submit their high school diploma and transcripts with an English translation, pay an admission fee of USD 15.00 and must pass an English test. Students whose English is not sufficient are required to take a special English class at Norton's Language Institute. Students with credits from other institutions can join the second or third year after an evaluation by the university's academic board, approved by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.

Admission Requirements

First-year (Foundation Studies) entry requires a high school certificate or equivalent and the entrance exam or other requirements set by the university; graduate programmes require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Foreign students submit:

  • Original high school diploma, with English translation if needed
  • Alien Certificate of Registration or passport
  • Personal history statement
  • Completed application form and admission fee of USD 15.00
  • Six 4x6 photos
  • Transcript of records with English translation
  • Medical certificate with chest X-ray

Tuition is paid before the academic year starts and is non-refundable.

Language Requirements

Foreign students must obtain a passing mark in the university's English language test. Students with insufficient English must enrol in a special English class at Norton's Language Institute.
