Rhode Island College (RIC) is a public college in Providence, the capital of Rhode Island, in the north-eastern United States; it is listed among the regional public universities of New England. Its 180-acre campus is on Mount Pleasant Avenue, and total enrolment has passed 7,000 students.
RIC offers more than 55 undergraduate programmes and over 25 graduate programmes in five schools, plus professional studies and continuing education:
- Faculty of Arts and Sciences
- Feinstein School of Education and Human Development
- School of Business
- School of Social Work
- Zvart Onanian School of Nursing
International students who have finished secondary school apply as first-year students through the Common App and need, for example, TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5. They pay out-of-state tuition and fees, and RIC currently offers no scholarships for international students. Students can live on campus in residence halls such as Thorp, Weber, Browne, Sweet and Penfield, with room types from single rooms to apartments.

More than 55 undergraduate majors plus minors, in the social sciences, sciences, mathematics, humanities and the arts, and in business, education, nursing and social work. Examples include accounting (BS), Africana studies (BA), anthropology (BA) and behavioral health studies (BS). An adult degree-completion Bachelor of Professional Studies offers concentrations in organizational leadership and social services.
International first-year applicants submit:
- Common App and a non-refundable US$50 fee (no fee waivers)
- Official transcripts, with non-U.S. records evaluated course by course, with grades and English translation, by a NACES member such as SpanTran
- English proficiency scores
- Financial declaration form
F-1 students must document funds covering the full cost of attendance before the I-20 is issued; RIC does not accept J-1 visas.
Students whose native language is not English must submit one of these minimum scores:
- TOEFL iBT 79 (computer-based 213)
- IELTS 6.5
- Duolingo 110
The requirement is waived only for native English speakers applying from an English-speaking country.
International students pay the out-of-state rate. Full-time undergraduate tuition and fees per semester, 2026-27 academic year (12 to 18 credits):
- Out-of-state tuition: US$13,799.50
- Total with mandatory fees: US$14,630.50
- Each credit above 18: US$1,014
Annual housing and dining costs for 2026-27 depend on the residence hall, room type and meal plan. Housing ranges from US$8,052 (single room in Thorp) to US$9,342 (single-bed apartment in Penfield), and food costs US$5,852-6,700, for an annual total of about US$13,904-16,042. Halls include Thorp, Weber, Browne, Sweet and Penfield, with singles, doubles, suites and apartments.
