Roger Williams University (RWU) is a private university in Bristol, Rhode Island, on the coast, about half an hour from Providence and Newport and an hour from Boston. It has about 3,500 full-time undergraduates across eight schools and offers associate, bachelor's, graduate and Juris Doctor (law) degrees.
RWU offers more than 65 accredited undergraduate majors and more than 70 minors, and 80% of students graduate with more than a single major. Distinctive programmes include architecture (with an M.Arch), aquaculture and aquarium science, construction management, cybersecurity and networking, forensic science and engineering. Graduate programmes, professional certificates and the School of Law complete the offer.
International students receive support from International Student and Scholar Services, peer mentors and the Intercultural Center. All international undergraduates are eligible at admission for an RWU International Scholarship worth up to 50% of tuition, housing and food, renewable each year. Students whose English scores are below the requirement can be considered for conditional admission.

International first-year applicants submit the Common Application with the RWU Supplement, the required essay, one letter of recommendation and at least three years of secondary school transcripts (in English or with a certified translation); national exam results alone are not enough and credential evaluations are optional. F-1 and J-1 applicants also submit financial documentation with the application (bank documents in English, signed and stamped, less than 12 months old). Transfer students can use the Transfer Common Application or the RWU Transfer Rapid App.
Direct admission requires one of the following: TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 105 or PTE 53, among other options such as SAT EBRW 550 or A-level English grade B. Citizens of countries where English is the primary language are exempt. Applicants with lower or no scores can receive conditional admission and complete a partner ESL programme (for example at Johnson & Wales University) before the I-20 is issued.
All international undergraduates are eligible at admission for a merit scholarship worth up to 50% of tuition, housing and food, renewable each year; the admission application also serves as the scholarship application. The scholarship does not cover health insurance, books, travel or fees, and the housing and food portion requires living on campus. Government sponsorship may reduce the award.
