Sendagaya Japanese Institute

Language school in Takadanobaba, Japan

Sendagaya Japanese Institute Group (千駄ヶ谷日本語教育研究所グループ) runs Japanese language schools in Tokyo for people whose first language is not Japanese. The group has spent many years researching how Japanese is taught and developing teaching materials, and it applies this work at its three Japanese language schools. The main school is in Takadanobaba, a student district close to Waseda University served by the JR Yamanote, Tokyo Metro Tozai and Seibu Shinjuku lines. The group states that it has more than 25,000 graduates and students from over 60 countries and regions.

  • Preparatory course for further study in Japan
  • Course for graduate school entry
  • Employment course, taught at a separate school in Komagome
  • Japanese teacher training course

Many students go on to Japanese universities, graduate schools or vocational schools, or start work in Japan. Multinational staff give support in several languages, and the group has offices in China and Vietnam. For courses of six months or more, applicants should start preparing their application about six months before entry; the school then applies to the Tokyo immigration bureau for the student's residence documents.
