St. Bonaventure University (SBU) is a private Catholic-Franciscan university founded in 1858. Its 500-acre campus lies in a valley in the Allegheny foothills of southwestern New York State, in the region known as the Southern Tier, near the communities of Olean and Allegany.
Undergraduate teaching is organised in five academic schools:

- Education
- Health professions
The School of Graduate Studies serves more than 700 students in 21 master's and certificate programmes in education, business, communication and the health professions, on campus, online or in hybrid format. Special programmes include an Honors Program and early assurance programmes that reserve places in graduate and pre-professional programmes for qualified students.
SBU welcomes qualified international students, who are supported by the Office of International Student Services, and they may be eligible for scholarships and grants. Students live in residence halls on campus and choose from several meal plans.
