St. Francis College (SFC) is a private college in Brooklyn, New York City (United States), founded by Franciscan Brothers from Ireland, who opened St. Francis Academy in 1859. Since September 2022 the college has been based in a new, purpose-built campus at 179 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn. It has more than 4,500 students from over 70 countries and a student-to-faculty ratio of 16:1. In 2026 its accreditor (MSCHE) approved the college to offer doctoral programmes.
SFC offers more than 72 degree programmes, grouped in areas such as:
- Business, accounting and entrepreneurship
- Sciences and health sciences, including nursing
- Human sciences, cultural studies and social justice
- Interdisciplinary studies, humanities, media and education
International students apply online with no application fee, and admissions are rolling throughout the year. The college is SEVP-certified to enrol F-1 students. Students can live in a residence hall in Brooklyn Heights, next to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

More than 72 degree programmes. Majors popular with international students include Accounting, Management, Information Technology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Communication Arts, Biology and Criminal Justice. Other fields include Finance, Entrepreneurship, Mathematics, Chemistry, Nursing, Health Sciences, Literature, Writing & Publishing, and Education. STEM-designated bachelor's degrees include:
- Biology, Biomedical Science, Chemistry and Medical Technology
- Information Technology and Mathematics
- Psychology and Communication Arts (Digital Media concentration)
International students can also apply to the Honors program.
Graduate programmes include an MFA in Creative Writing, an MA in Psychology (also as a combined BA/MA), an MS in Management with Digital Marketing or Project Management concentrations, and a combined BS/MS in Accounting.
Admissions are rolling throughout the year and the online application is free. Undergraduate applicants (first-year and transfer) send official academic records in the original language with an English translation, sent directly by the school; transfer students with studies outside the US need a course-by-course evaluation by a NACES member service. SAT/ACT scores are optional except for nursing. Graduate applicants submit transcripts of their bachelor's degree, two letters of recommendation, a CV and a statement of purpose; GMAT/GRE scores are recommended with a GPA below 3.0.
Minimum English scores for undergraduate admission: TOEFL iBT 70, IELTS 6, Duolingo 95, PTE 50, iTEP 3.7 or LanguageCert B2. The requirement may be waived for students at international schools or from certain countries. Graduate applicants from non-English-speaking countries also submit TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, PTE or iTEP results.
All students are automatically considered for scholarships. SFC has an international scholarship programme for undergraduates (details from the international admissions team). Other awards include a Faith-Based Scholarship of US$1,000 for graduates of faith-based high schools, renewable for up to four years, and the Larkin Luminary Scholarship of up to US$500 for relatives of SFC graduates.
SFC's residence hall is at 119 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights (operated by FOUND Study), across from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. It has a study room, gym, sky lounge, media and game rooms and two community kitchens; every room has a kitchenette. Prices per person for the full 2026-27 academic year: single US$18,000, double US$16,000, triple US$15,000, quad US$12,000. Residents must be full-time, in-person students and have health insurance.
