HSE University (National Research University Higher School of Economics, Natsionalny issledovatelsky universitet "Vysshaya shkola ekonomiki") is a Russian university with campuses in Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm. Its main Moscow address is 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar. The university has about 60,000 students, around 5,800 of them international.
- Bachelor's degrees: 4 to 5 years, more than 55 programmes in Russian or English, free or fee-paying
- Master's degrees: 2 years, more than 120 programmes
- PhD: 3 to 4 years
- Preparatory Year: 1 year of Russian language and preparation for university study
HSE runs 20 double degree programmes with partners in countries such as China, Brazil and South Korea, and students can take part in mobility programmes in more than 50 countries. International applicants apply online and take HSE entrance exams; full scholarships are available through the INTO HSE Olympiad, the Open Doors Olympiad and the Rossotrudnichestvo quota. The university has a Visa Support Centre, helps students find housing in Moscow, where it has its own dormitories, and its Support and Career Centre for International Students and Alumni (office D626 at Pokrovsky Bulvar) organises events such as Russian Culture Day and the HSE Inter Football Cup.

International applicants to master's programmes can compete for fee-paying places in a separate competition for international applicants.
Admission
International applicants register in the My Application section of the HSE admissions website, choose up to two programmes and take HSE entrance exams. Admitted students upload a consent to study, go through the recognition procedure for their school documents and upload the documents for enrolment; the whole process is online. Bachelor's programmes at HSE University in Moscow, 2026-27 academic year: fee-paying places from 200,000 RUB per year.
Scholarships and financial aid
International applicants to bachelor's programmes can obtain a full scholarship through three routes:
- HSE International Olympiad (INTO HSE) or HSE entrance exams
- Rossotrudnichestvo quota
- Open Doors Olympiad
Housing
HSE University has its own dormitories in Moscow and helps international students find housing in the city. The international student support site also gives guidance on alternative accommodation and renting a flat.
