Texas Wesleyan University (TXWES) is a Methodist-affiliated university in east Fort Worth, Texas (United States), in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. It was founded in 1890 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, opened as Polytechnic College in 1891 and remains grounded in the Methodist tradition. The average class size is 16, and 54% of undergraduates are the first in their family to attend college.
The university offers more than 30 areas of study at undergraduate level, plus graduate and doctoral programmes, through the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Business Administration and the School of Education, among others. Undergraduate options range from biology, biochemistry, computer science and psychology to accounting, business analytics, supply chain management, mass communication, theatre and Spanish. Dual-degree programmes include a 3+2 computer science track with a master's at UTA.
International freshmen need a GPA equivalent to at least 2.5 (2.0 for transfers) and proof of English, for example TOEFL 4.0 (68 before 2026) or IELTS 6.0; lower scores can lead to admission through the on-campus intensive English programme. Transcripts can be sent as scans for admission. International undergraduates receive a scholarship of US$23,000 per year in 2026-2027 while enrolled full time.
