Texas Christian University (TCU) is a private university in Fort Worth, Texas, about five miles from the city centre in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It was founded in 1873 as an institution where men and women could learn together. TCU has 11,152 undergraduates and 1,828 graduate students and reports a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1.

Undergraduates choose from more than 115 majors, and around 40% of students take part in research and study abroad. Graduate study includes master's and doctoral programmes, an MBA, and the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine.

Students come from more than 90 countries. International applicants are reviewed automatically for academic scholarships and can submit the CSS Profile to be considered for need-based aid; International Services and an International Students Association support them on campus, and the admissions site has a section in Spanish. First- and second-year students must live on campus in the university's residence halls.

Admission Requirements

Applicants who need a visa must submit a TCU Financial Statement signed by the applicant and sponsor, with letters from the sponsor's employer and bank showing funds for a full year and resources for later years. The I-20 is issued after this statement and a non-refundable enrolment fee are received. Each international applicant has an assigned admission counselor. F-1 and J-1 students may work up to 20 hours a week on campus during term but not off campus.

Financial Aid

Incoming international students can receive academic scholarships (applicants are reviewed automatically) and need-based aid, which requires the CSS Profile (TCU code 6820). Awards are competitive and usually cover less than half of the cost of attendance; TCU does not offer full-funding awards.

Housing

First- and second-year students must live on campus in TCU's residence halls, all updated in recent years. Many upper-year students live off campus in the surrounding neighbourhood, and Greek housing is available in the Greek Village in Worth Hills. Dining includes vegetarian and vegan options and an allergen-free kitchen.
