The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) is a public university in West Texas (United States) and part of the University of Texas System. Its main campus is in Odessa, and a second campus in Midland houses the Performing Arts Center and the School of Engineering. UTPB has about 7,400 students and is a minority- and Hispanic-serving institution.
The university offers more than 50 undergraduate, graduate and online programmes in arts and humanities, business, education, engineering and sciences, and nursing. Options include petroleum, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, computer science with tracks in cyber security, data science and artificial intelligence, geology, energy business, psychology and social work, and an MBA with several specialisations. Students can gain experience through paid internships with employers across the Permian Basin.
International students complete a freshman or transfer application with a US$40 fee and send transcripts translated and evaluated by a credential evaluation service at least 120 days before the semester starts. English proficiency is required for applicants whose native language is not English (for example TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 100). After admission, students submit a passport copy and proof of financial support for the I-20, and F-1 students are automatically enrolled in the UT student health insurance plan.
