The International School Estepona

The International School Estepona is a British primary school and nursery in El Paraíso, Estepona, on the Costa del Sol, for children aged 2 to 12. Founded in 2004, it follows the British National Curriculum for England and Wales, so pupils can move to and from British schools in the UK or abroad; in the early years teaching follows the Montessori approach. The school is accredited by NABSS (the National Association of British Schools in Spain) and licensed by the Junta de Andalucía (Consejería de Educación). According to the school, the British Council monitors how it delivers the curriculum and carries out regular inspections.

• Foundation Stage 1 (nursery), ages 2 to 3
• Foundation Stage 2 and Years 1 and 2, ages 4 to 6
• Years 3 to 6, ages 7 to 12

The school occupies a secure, purpose-built compound of 3,700 square metres on the so-called New Golden Mile, about 20 minutes from Marbella, with parking. Facilities include air-conditioned and heated classrooms, interactive smart screens, a computer suite, a grassed garden for younger children and an all-weather sports ground. The school day runs from 9:00 to 16:00, and a summer school and holiday clubs are offered throughout the year. The principal, Gillian Godbold, is a qualified Montessori teacher.
