Swedish International School (SIS) is a Swedish school in Estepona on the Costa del Sol, serving families in the Estepona and Marbella area. It follows the Swedish national curriculum, has operated since 2023 and states that it is authorised and supervised by the Junta de Andalucía and authorised by Skolverket, the Swedish education agency, for supplementary Swedish teaching. Classes have a maximum of 16 pupils.
Swedish is the language of instruction. Spanish is on the timetable every day from preschool, and English is introduced early and extended in line with the curriculum. Preschool to Year 6 is taught on site; from Year 7 pupils study by distance learning with on-site tutors.
- Preschool (ages 3-5) and reception class (ages 5-6)
- Primary, Years 1-6
- Lower secondary, Years 7-9, through Sofia Distans
- Upper secondary (gymnasium), through Hermods
Grades and certificates for the distance stages are issued by the distance school. The school day runs from 9:00 to 15:00, with after-school activities until 16:30. A Malmö FF football academy (from Year 7) and a padel and tennis profile are built into the school day.
