The English School of Asturias (ESA) is a bilingual school for ages 2 to 18 at Finca La Llosona in Pruvia de Abajo, Asturias, on a campus surrounded by nature. It teaches the English national curriculum together with subjects from the Spanish national curriculum, which the school says complies with current regulations and makes it easier to have qualifications recognised and to enter Spanish universities. Since 2023 ESA has been part of the Dukes Education group. Most pupils are Spanish, and students from more than 30 nationalities attend.
- Early Years: Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception, with an immersive English programme
- Primary, in English and Spanish
- Secondary, with IGCSE exams alongside Spanish subjects
- Sixth Form: Pearson International A Levels and Spanish PCE subjects
At the end of Year 11 (4º ESO), students can apply for official recognition of their studies as equivalent to the Spanish ESO diploma. In the Sixth Form they choose four International A Level subjects, sit Cambridge English CAE (C1) or CPE (C2), and can add two Spanish subjects examined by UNED to raise their Spanish university entrance scores. Entry to the A Level programme requires at least five IGCSE passes. Non-native speakers receive Spanish reinforcement classes. Applications are accepted throughout the year, subject to availability; the process includes a visit, an online application and, depending on age, an assessment or family interview, which can be done remotely for overseas applicants.
