Most undergraduate degrees are applied for through UCAS (university code CHICH C58); International Top-Up, pre-sessional and postgraduate courses are applied for directly on the university website. Every application needs supporting documents:
- Personal statement and up-to-date academic transcripts, translated into English where necessary (required before processing starts)
- Graduation certificates and proof of English proficiency (can follow later; a conditional offer is made meanwhile)
- Two academic references
- For some courses, such as dance or music, an audition video or essay
International applicants pay a deposit of 50% of first-year tuition fees before the university issues the CAS needed for the Student Route visa. Research degree applicants first contact a potential supervisor.
International students whose first language is not English need an English test taken within the two years before applying. Typical IELTS Academic levels:
- International Top-Up and Pre-Master's programmes: 5.5 overall, 5.5 in each skill
- Undergraduate: 6.0 overall, 5.5 in each skill
- Postgraduate: 6.5 overall, 5.5 in each skill
- Nursing, physiotherapy and social work: 7.0 overall, 6.5 in each skill
Duolingo (105 undergraduate, 120 postgraduate for most programmes), PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT and other tests are also accepted. Nationals of majority English-speaking countries may be exempt. Students below the required level can take pre-sessional English or the International Pre-Master's Programme.
For international students joining in 2026, the university offers:
- EU Scholarship: EU undergraduates pay Home (UK) fees instead of international fees, awarded automatically
- Region scholarships for South Asia, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Turkey: £3,500 (undergraduate) or £3,000 (master's) off first-year fees, awarded automatically
- Global Distinction Scholarship: £2,750, merit-based, for undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Early Bird Discount: £2,000 for accepting an offer by 30 April 2026
Awards are for self-funded overseas fee payers and cannot be combined.
The university has halls of residence on its Bishop Otter (Chichester) and Bognor Regis campuses, Student Villages south of Chichester city centre and refurbished off-campus houses and studios. Rooms are en-suite or with shared bathrooms and kitchens, catered or self-catered. First-year, full-time undergraduates who make Chichester their firm choice are guaranteed help in securing accommodation. Applications open on the portal in May after an offer, and rooms are allocated by lottery based on preferences. Weekly prices for the 2026/27 academic year range from £171.64 (shared facilities) to £309.96 (dual-occupancy studio).
