Thomas Edison State University (TESU) is a university for adult learners based in Trenton, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 1972, it offers its programmes 100% online to students in the United States and abroad, and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Over five decades it has awarded more than 64,000 degrees to students in all 50 US states and 60 countries.
TESU offers more than 100 areas of study across associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees (DBA, DNP and Ed.D.) and certificates, including accelerated bachelor's-to-master's options. Its schools are:

- School of Science and Technology
- W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions
- John S. Watson School of Public Service
The university is known for flexible ways of earning credit: transfer credits, credit for work experience, military training and licences, and credit-by-exam. Courses have multiple start dates. Applicants apply online, pay a non-refundable US$50 application fee where applicable and receive an academic evaluation of their transcripts; the minimum age is 16. International students pay the out-of-state per-credit rate, which is US$584 per credit from the August 2026 term.

Application steps:
- Create a new student profile and complete the online application
- Pay the non-refundable US$50 application fee and verify identity, where applicable (valid for 12 months from acceptance)
- Submit transcripts for an academic evaluation, including transfer credits, military and professional training, and CLEP or DSST scores
Applicants must be at least 16. Graduate, doctoral and nursing applicants have separate requirements.

- Per credit: $584
- Full-time flat rate (9 or more credits per term): $4,652 per term
