Touro University is a higher education system founded in 1970 within the Jewish tradition; its first class enrolled in 1971. According to the university, it is the largest higher education system under Jewish auspices in the United States. It serves over 20,000 students in dozens of schools in New York (with a base at 3 Times Square in Manhattan), California, Nevada, Illinois and Montana, and abroad in Berlin, Jerusalem and Moscow. The average student-to-faculty ratio is 10 to 1, and the university reports a #143 place in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 National Universities ranking.
Touro's schools cover undergraduate studies and many graduate and professional fields:
- Medicine and health: New York Medical College, osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, dental medicine, podiatric medicine, health sciences (PT, OT, PA, nursing)
- Law: Touro Law Center
- Business, education, social work, technology and Jewish studies graduate schools
- Undergraduate colleges such as Lander College of Arts and Sciences and the New York School of Career and Applied Studies
Programmes are offered in person, online or in hybrid format. Each school sets its own admission requirements. International Student Services in New York issues I-20s and advises F-1 students, and many programmes are STEM-designated.

Each Touro school and programme has its own admission criteria, deadlines and application process, published on the school's website. International applicants to graduate programmes must have non-US college transcripts evaluated course by course by an agency accredited by NACES, and should allow plenty of time before the deadline if they need a student visa. After full acceptance, students contact the International Admissions Coordinators to process the I-20. Weekly online international information sessions are offered, with an application fee waiver for attendees for many programmes.
