The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) is a private university founded in 1935 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and, according to the university, the first private university in Mexico. It has several campuses in the Guadalajara area, with the main campus on Av. Patria in Zapopan, a further campus in Villahermosa, Tabasco, and online programmes. The university states that its programmes hold 35 national and 3 international accreditations.

Through an alliance with Arizona State University (ASU), some programmes lead to a dual degree: one from UAG, valid in Mexico, and one from ASU, valid in the United States. Applications are made online, followed by document upload and an exam or evaluation depending on the programme. Scholarships and financing are available for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The university publishes a list of registered boarding houses (casas de asistencia) for students looking for accommodation.

Graduate programmes
UAG offers specialisations, master's degrees and doctorates in in-person, hybrid and online formats. Most master's degrees last two years.
- Dental specialisations (endodontics, paediatric dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics and implantology, prosthodontics)
- Health: master's in Occupational Health and in Hospital and Health Services Administration
- Business: Finance, International MBA, Business Analytics, AI in Business; doctorates in Administration and Business Administration (DBA)
- Engineering: Quality Systems, Hydraulics, Tequila Processes, Manufacturing Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain; doctorates in Science and Engineering and in Hydraulic Engineering
- Law: Corporate Law and Tax Law
- Humanities: Education, Philosophy, English-Spanish Translation and Interpreting; doctorates in Philosophy and Education
Applicants register, attend an interview with the programme coordinator and submit their documents.
Admission
Admission to UAG programmes (upper-secondary, bachelor's and postgraduate) follows five steps:
- Online application at admision.uag.mx
- Upload of digital documents
- Exam or evaluation, depending on the programme
- Admission result sent by email
- Enrolment to confirm the place
Requirements and documents vary by level and programme; for postgraduate programmes they are listed in each programme brochure.
Housing
For students looking for accommodation, UAG publishes a list of registered boarding houses (casas de asistencia), valid from July 2024 to November 2026. Houses not on the list are not recommended by the university, which acts only as an information service and accepts no responsibility for contracts. Prices vary with the services included (room only, or room with meals and other services) and the location. Students should ask the provider for a contract, the house rules and a receipt for each payment. Questions or complaints go to the student welfare office; international students can contact the Dirección de Extranjeros.
