The Universidad de América is a private higher education institution in Bogotá, Colombia. It received its licence from the Colombian Ministry of Education to begin teaching in 1952, and by 1956 its architecture and economics programmes had been approved and its industrial, mechanical, petroleum and chemical engineering faculties created. Teaching takes place mainly at the EcoCampus de Los Cerros, on Avenida Circunvalar at the foot of Bogotá's eastern hills, and at the Sede Norte on Calle 106. The university states that it was the first in Colombia to receive the SDG certification (Certificación ODS) awarded by CIFAL – UNITAR.

Its three faculties are Architecture, Economic and Administrative Sciences, and Engineering. Undergraduate programmes include:

  • Economics and International Business (on campus or online)
  • Environmental, Energy, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Chemical Engineering
  • Petroleum and Subsurface Resources Engineering

It also offers specialisations, master's degrees, diploma courses and language courses. Registration for undergraduate admission is free of charge; applicants upload their documents, including the Colombian Saber 11 exam results. Tuition can be paid in instalments or financed through partner lenders and ICETEX.

Admission

Undergraduate applicants register online free of charge and then upload:

  • A copy of their identity document
  • A current certificate of health insurance (EPS) membership
  • Saber 11 exam results
  • Secondary school diploma or certificate (diploma or acta de bachiller)

Applicants under 18 also attach their birth registration and a data-protection form signed by a guardian. After this step, the enrolment receipt can be downloaded and paid online. Postgraduate applicants submit an identity document, application form, proof of payment, professional degree, transcripts and any further documents requested.

Scholarships and financial aid

The university lists several partner lenders for financing tuition:

  • Credyty: up to 100% of tuition, in 2 to 5 instalments (undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education)
  • One2Credit: for specialisations and master's degrees
  • Fincomercio and Finky: education loans for undergraduate and postgraduate study
  • ValCredit: up to 80% of tuition
  • ICETEX: renewals only, according to the page
  • Cundinamarca Más Profesional fund of the Gobernación de Cundinamarca, for students from that department

Monthly or semester instalment plans can also be arranged with the university.
